PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact chip-storing device which attains the loading and holding of chip, prevention of chip scattering within holding member and detection of the amount of loading with a simple structure. SOLUTION: The printer with a cutter mechanism which is actuated by a driving force transmitted from a drive source and cuts a recording medium includes a chip housing part for loading and housing the cut chip, a lid which covers a part of the chip housing part and is formed so as to be opened and closed by driving the cutter mechanism, and a chip pressing member which is formed in the chip housing part and is provided so as to be movable between the pressing position where the chip is pressed in linking with the opening/closing movement of the lid and the retreating position for retreating from the route where the chip is stored to the housing part. The position where the pressing member receives power given from opening/closing movement of the lid is established between the position where the chip is pressed and the fulcrum conserved at the chip housing part.
