A METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR THE TREATMENT OF NATURAL STONE ON FINISHED SURFACES

A method for the treatment of surfaces (1) of natural stones, comprising prior impregnation of the stone in question by means of a silicate solution made of sodium silicate, sodium-potassium or potassium. The phases are: application of a predetermined quantity of water to wet the surface (5) of the stone to be treated; uniform distribution on the wet surface of a predetermined quantity of tetraethyloxysilane reagent, or TEOS; condensation of the reagent on the silicate used for the impregnation, with removal of the sodium and potassium atoms, in at least one external surface layer (T, Tm) of the silicate used for the impregnation and on the surface (8) of the stone, with evaporation of the ethyl alcohol created by the reaction. The system that applies the method comprises: a station for wetting and/or aspiration (26) and checking the quantity of water present on the surface (5) to be treated; a station for applying the reagent (34) uniformly and in the predetermined quantity to the surface being treated, immediately after the said surface has been treated at the previous station; a station for the condensation/evaporation (40) immediately after the application of the reagent to the said surface at the previous station.
