<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide methods for producing PHA polymers or copolymers that avoids increasing the level of 3-hydroxyacid in the feed. <P>SOLUTION: The method for PHA polymer production by coenzyme A-dependent aldehyde dehydrogenase pathways, includes expressing genes encoding one or more enzymes of acyl-CoA transferase, acyl-CoA synthetase, β-ketothiolase, acetoacetyl-CoA reductase and/or PHA synthase, where at least one gene is a heterologous gene, and feeding an alcohol to the organism.
