COATING AGENT FOR PREVENTING STRIKE THROUGH, COATING COMPOSITION CONTAINING THE SAME, AND PAPER AND NEWSPRINT PAPER APPLIED WITH THE COATING COMPOSITION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating agent for preventing strike through, having a high oil absorptivity value and showing less strike through on printing, a coating composition, paper and newsprint paper.

SOLUTION: This coating agent for preventing the strike through is obtained by modifying [A] an amide-based compound (i) having 100 to 250 mgKOH/g and (ii) obtained by reacting (a) a polyalkylene amine with (b) 5 to 45 mol% dibasic carboxylic acids based on the primary amino groups contained in the polyalkylene amine (a), and (c) 25 to 75 mol% 12-24C fatty acids based on the total number of moles of primary amino groups and secondary amino groups contained in the polyalkylene amine (a), with 50 to 100 mol% epihalohydrin (f) based on the active hydrogens of residual amino groups of the amide-based compound [A] in an aqueous solution containing (d) a water soluble organic acid and (e) a nonionic emulsifier and/or cationic emulsifier. The coating composition containing the striking through-preventing agent, and paper and newsprint paper applied with the coating composition are also provided.
