PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a unit or the like for a programmable controller, having a controller storing a retrieval processing function of operating in cooperation with a sequence program, and directly searching and decompressing a file to be searched for data, thereby reducing search time and work necessary for allocation or the like. SOLUTION: A file system 12c has a plurality of kinds of setting data to be set in a memory area 11b of a CPU unit 11 as a CSV file. In the file system 12c, key data for specifying predetermined data from the plurality of kinds of data are set to the first column of the CSV file of the same row as the setting data. Any key data column can be designated. When a data retrieval part 12b acquires a key for specifying data needed by the sequence program to be executed in the CPU unit 11, the data retrieval part searches the first column of the file for the data based on the key, and extracts a corresponding row to create a decompression file.
