PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a robot control device and method, suitable for small lot multi-production, by preventing operation of an actuator in the direction different from an intention of an operator, and easily coping even with the case of frequently changing in a work object and the work content. SOLUTION: This robot control device controls a hand guide robot 1, controlling the movement in the respective axial directions or rotation around the respective axes in a manipulator in response to operation indication of the operator via an operation device 30. A series of work by the hand guide robot 1 is divided into a plurality of work processes, and restriction or nonrestriction is individually set as a control table on flexibilities of the movement in the axial directions and the rotations around the axes with every work process, respectively, and the manipulator is controlled in driving in response to the control table for each work process, by a control device 40, and work process switching indication from the operator is accepted.
