<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an instrument for measuring the characteristics of activated sludge capable of simply and certainly measuring the characteristics of the activated sludge, and to provide a method for measuring the characteristics of the activated sludge. <P>SOLUTION: The instrument of measuring the characteristics of activated sludge for measuring the capacity characteristics of the activated sludge used in the treatment of sewage is equipped with a light-pervious measuring pipe 1, which is placed so that the pipe axis thereof becomes vertical and into which an activated sludge solution becoming a measuring target is introduced; a plurality of the optical measuring means 2 arranged along the measuring pipe in the pipe axis direction; a time-measuring means 3 for measuring the time during measurement; and an operational processing part 4 executing operation, on the basis of the measuring results of a plurality of the optical measuring means 2 and the time measuring means 3. The operational processing part 4 calculates the lowering behavior of the interface of a supernatant liquid and sedimented sludge, from a start time when the entire amount of the activated sludge solution is introduced into the measuring pipe 1 as a sludge sedimentation graph, wherein the positions of the interface are plotted with respect to time and the capacity characteristics of the activated sludge are determined from the profile of the sludge sedimentation graph. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
