PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a current position determining device for identifying a current position, having a technique of further improving identification precision of an own vehicle position around a branch point by solving the following problem with a conventional navigation apparatus which detects a lane with a camera for solution to a problem of degraded precision in specifying an own-vehicle position at a branch such as a narrow Y-shaped branch: when a lane change is made in a section not included in a detection area during driving on a road where a section capable of a lane change is longer than the detection area, a lane during driving may not be properly identified because of no detection of the lane change and particularly an area capable of a lane change largely varies with individual branch points because a feature state is not fixed. SOLUTION: The current position determining device identifies a current position by identifying a detection area according to a state of a road during driving, detecting a lane change, and using information of the detected lane change.
