PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce useless energy consumption by operating a cooling sea water pump by irreducible minimum power. SOLUTION: In this central fresh water cooling system, a cooled equipment group 2 mounted to a vessel is cooled by fresh water 3 circulating in a closed circuit 1, and the fresh water 3 is heat-exchanged with sea water 5 taken from the outside of the vessel by a central fresh water cooling device 6 in the middle of the closed circuit 1. The system includes a motor 7 for driving the cooling sea water pump 8 for feeding sea water 5 to the central fresh water cooling device 6, a temperature sensor 12 for measuring a temperature of the fresh water 3 fed from the central fresh water cooling device 6 to the cooled equipment group 2, and a control unit 13 for performing the control of the number of revolutions of the motor 7 of the cooling sea water pump 8 so that a detected temperature by the temperature sensor 12 may be a set temperature based on the detected temperature.
