PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a trash can for a public lavatory capable of preventing throwing of trash other than trash to be collected, which is highly convenient for a user of the lavatory without loss of space in the lavatory. SOLUTION: The trash can for the public lavatory includes a casing-like body 12, and a storage container 40 housed in the body 12 for taking in the trash. In the upper part of the front surface of the body 12, an inclined surface 20 inclined upward by an angle of 10-30°is arranged. In the inclined surface 20, an inlet 21 of the trash opened with length of 50-170 mm and width of 15-55 mm, is formed. In the body 12, a lid body 22 closing the inlet 21, that can be freely oscillated, is arranged.
