<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a touch panel allowing suppression of reduction of display quality, and to provide an image display apparatus with the same. <P>SOLUTION: The touch panel includes: a plurality of first transparent electrodes 11 which are arranged side by side in a first direction X and a second direction Y, which are each a square having diagonals along the first direction and the second direction, which each have first corners opposite to each other along the first direction, and wherein the adjacent first corners are connected in the first direction; and a plurality of second transparent electrodes 12 which are arranged side by side in the first direction and the second direction with gaps between the plurality of the first transparent electrodes, which are each a square having diagonals along the first direction and the second direction, which each have second corners opposite to each other along the second direction, and wherein the adjacent second corners are connected in the second direction.
