BREAKING DEVICE FOR HARD BRITTLE PLATE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rational, durable breaking device capable of reducing occurrence of defectives in a breaking process and of shortening the adjusting time before operation in cleavage of a hard brittle plate. SOLUTION: The abutment depth of breaking blades on respective scribe grooves formed on a glass sheet is made adjustable or settable. The breaking device includes: a height-adjusting apparatus for setting the positional relation of a support frame with a lifting bracket in a height direction; a breaking blade holder guided to the lifting bracket by a vertical guide; collision equipment mounted to the lifting bracket to perform lifting of the breaking blade holder; and a stopper fixed to a prescribed position of the lifting bracket to forcibly stop the descending motion of the breaking blade holder by the collision equipment.
