The absorber (1) has a working piston (11) partitioning a working cylinder (5) into working chambers (7, 9). A piston rod (25) is transferred by force on the piston and guided through one of the chambers (7). A separating piston (15) separates the other chamber (9) from a gas equalization chamber (13). A separation plate (17) partitions the latter chamber into sub working chambers (19, 21). A hydraulic device (39) associated to the working chambers and the sub working chambers is adjusted or fixed by characteristics e.g. working pressure, of the absorber.
