The method involves conveying a supply air flow by a blower (5) via a supply air channel (6), where temperature of the supply air flow is periodically detected in the channel. A limit temperature is adjusted to a limit value, and a supply air heater (7) is disconnected for a preset time interval, if the temperature of the air flow exceeds the limit temperature. The limit temperature is reduced to another limit value after fulfillment of a pre-determined error criterion related to difference and/or gradients. A drying process is continued with the latter limit value. An independent claim is also included for a household appliance.
