A planar heating device provided with: first and second heaters (1, 2) which are connected to the power source (4) so as to be parallel to each other; a thermistor (5); a thermostat (6) connected in series to the second heater (2); the first heater (1) serving as the heating section for heating both the thermistor (5) and the thermostat (6); and a control unit (3) for controlling the temperature of the first and second heaters (1, 2) on the basis of temperature information from the thermistor (5). During a period until the thermostat (6) is turned off, the speed of heating is increased by conducting electricity to the first and second heaters (1, 2).
