PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a two-dimensional solid-state imaging device that reliably reproduces color information by application of near-field light generated on the basis of surface plasmon polariton excited by an incident electromagnetic wave.
SOLUTION: The two-dimensional solid-state imaging device includes pixel areas disposed in the shape of a two-dimensional matrix, and each pixel area is composed of a plurality of sub-pixel areas. A metal layer 30 provided with an opening having an aperture diameter smaller than a wavelength of the incident electromagnetic wave and a photoelectric conversion element 21 are disposed on the opposite sides of an insulating film 32. At least one photoelectric conversion element 21 is disposed for the opening and a projective image of the opening 31 is contained in a light receiving region of the photoelectric conversion element 21. The opening 31 is so arranged as to generate a state of resonance on the basis of the surface plasmon polariton excited by the incident electromagnetic wave, and the near-field light generated near the opening by the state of resonance is converted into an electric signal by the photoelectric conversion element 21.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
