429,572. Cable - capping devices. KERSKEN, H., 107, De Ruyterkade, Amsterdam. Jan. 22, 1935, No. 2065. Convention date, Feb. 9, 1934. [Class 109] The end of a steel cable is clamped within an internally tapering capel 4 by a wedge 2 of oval form inserted between the strands 1 of the cable. The wedge is of such hardness that the strands may impress grooves therein, but that it retains its general shape under the maximum load of the cable. An aluminium alloy having 13 per cent silicon may be used. The strands 1 may be held together in the free space beyond the wedge. The wedge may be in two parts, and may have a central aperture to receive the core of the rope. |
