PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thin paper winding device with planetary roller tear-off mechanisms for enhancing the quality of a cut portion of the thin paper, and to provide a method of tearing off the thin paper. SOLUTION: The thin paper winding device with the planetary roller tear-off mechanisms includes: an upper winding roller 4; a plurality of arc-shaped guide plates 8; a plurality of cutting arms 1; and the pair of planetary roller tear-off mechanisms 30. The upper winding roller 4 rotates in a predetermined direction, and has a roller surface 4b having a plurality of recessed portions 4a disposed therein. The plurality of arc-shaped guide plates 8 are disposed below the upper winding roller 4 and at positions separated by a predetermined distance, and form an arc-shaped chute 9 together with the roller surface 4b of the upper winding roller 4. The arc-shaped chute 9 has a paper tube inlet end 9a and a paper tube outlet end 9b. When the thin paper W is inserted from the paper tube inlet end 9a of the arc-shaped chute 9, the thin paper is delivered from the paper outlet end 9b of the arc-shaped chute 9 to a winding area 14, thereby forming a paper roll L.
