PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize the high stop position accuracy at low cost by increasing the inertia moment of a conveying roller. SOLUTION: A recorder for executing the recording by the movement of a carriage with a recording head mounted thereon and the conveyance of a recording medium by a conveying member has a drive-rotating body for rotating the conveying member, a friction imparting member arranged on the drive-rotating body and rotated together with the drive-rotating body, a brake drum arranged on a device body with the friction imparting member being pressed thereagainst, and a spring member for pressing the friction imparting member against the brake drum. The pressure of the friction imparting member against the brake drum when the drive-rotating body is rotated is set to be smaller than the pressure when the drive-rotating body is stopped.
