PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust device for an engine, enabling the activation of a catalyst at an early stage, while suppressing a cost increase in the device. SOLUTION: The exhaust device 130 for an engine includes an exhaust passage 76 for passing exhaust gas of an engine 15 therethrough, and the catalyst 131 for purifying the exhaust gas in a chamber housing part 87 disposed at the middle of the exhaust passage 76. One part of a rear collecting part 93 provided in the exhaust passage 76 is a substantially U-shaped curved part 98, the catalyst 131 is disposed on a downstream of the curved part 98, and a bypass passage 103 carrying out connection is equipped between the upstream of the curved part 98 and the downstream of the curved part 98 at a distance shorter than a passage length of the curved part 98. The bypass passage 103 is connected to an enlarged diameter part 101 being the chamber housing part 87 and provided between a first catalyst 85 and a second catalyst 86. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
