PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polylactic acid-based latent crimped fiber suitable for obtaining a fiber assembly that is biodegradable in soil and in air, has excellent crimp development, stretchability, softness and touch of swelling feel. SOLUTION: The polylactic acid-based latent crimped fiber is a side-by-side type conjugate fiber obtained by sticking two kinds of polymers in which one polymer constituting the side-by-side type conjugate fiber is a polylactic acid and the other polymer is a polymer obtained by copolymerizing a polyalkylene succinate with 1-6 mol% of lactic acid. The side-by-side type conjugate fiber has latent crimping performance of developing spiral crimps of≥30 crimps/25 mm after dry heat treatment at 90°C. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
