The ride device (1) has an occupant compartment (4) suspended at a retaining device (2). The retaining device is rotatably formed around a horizontal rotational axis (3). A drive (5) is provided for driving the retaining device. The drive is provided with a motor, a safety stop brake and a gear e.g. friction gear, driving belt gear and wire gear. The safety stop brake is opened by a battery operated opening device. The drive is provided with a centrifugal brake, which is arranged between the gear and the motor.
