<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device that can improve accuracy in a stick position of a polarizing plate. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device includes a first substrate, a second substrate and a liquid crystal layer. The first substrate includes: a pixel electrode arranged on an active area; and a power supply pad arranged on the outside of the active area and supplying common electric potential; and the second substrate includes: an insulating substrate; a light-shielding layer formed in a frame shape on the outside of the active area in a first surface of the insulating substrate and extending on the power supply unit facing the power supply pad; a polarizing plate mark arranged on the power supply unit, and including a first mark formed with the same material as that of the light-shielding layer and a second mark consisting of an opening formed on the light-shielding layer, wherein the polarizing plate mark is used for checking the position of the polarizing plate that is attached on a second surface of the insulating substrate; and a counter electrode facing the pixel electrode, extending on the power supply unit on the outside of the active area and arranged on the light-shielding layer and polarizing plate mark.
