<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flexible optical waveguide which is superior in bending durability and has less optical loss. <P>SOLUTION: In the flexible optical waveguide having a lower cladding layer 2 and a core layer 6, the cross sectional area of one end of the core layer 6 is smaller than the cross-sectional area of the other end, and the flexible optical waveguide has a bending part, which is thinner than at least one end.
