PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize an operation at a high-revolution-speed region by increasing the eigen frequency of a motor as well as attaining a compact structure and a cost reduction. SOLUTION: There is provided a screw compressor 10 in which a motor rotor 13a is overhung by a male rotor 11 in screw rotors 11, 12 subjected to male-female engagement. In the screw compressor 10, the shaft diameter of a support 17 of the motor rotor 13a is made larger than the dedendum-circle diameter of the male rotor 11. By operating the screw compressor 10 at a high-revolution-speed region, a desired refrigerating capacity can be obtained. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
