PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle control apparatus capable of detecting circuit failure between a drive control part and a load drive part even when energization shut-down of a plurality of external loads is switched through the load drive part. SOLUTION: A driving mode of an IPD3 can perform switching between an ordinary driving mode and a diagnosis driving mode from one to the other. A microcomputer 2 can execute diagnostic processing for circuit failure in a space to the IPD3 and sets the IPD3 at a diagnostic driving mode in executing the diagnostic processing. Next, a load driving command is transmitted to each of load driving command input ports I<SB>in</SB>1 to I<SB>in</SB>8. Then, the content of feedback information obtained at that time is compared to that of a load driving command transmitted to the plurality of load driving command input ports and if a difference between both thereof are confirmed, it is determined that there is some failure in a circuit to the IPD3.
