PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical transmission module which can simultaneously mount a VCSEL and a PD and secures efficient heat radiation of the VCSEL while transmitting the light from the principal light emitting surface of the VCSEL to an optical fiber and receiving the light emitted from the rear surface of the principal light emitting surface with the PD for optical output monitoring. SOLUTION: The optical transmission module transmits light to an optical fiber F from the principal light emitting surface 4b of the VCSEL 4 and detects the light from the rear surface 4c of the principal light emitting surface 4b with the PD 5 for optical output monitoring. The VCSEL 4 and PD 5 are mounted to different locations on a transparent mounting substrate 6. The transparent mounting substrate 6 is provided with sloping planes 6c, 6d as the reflecting planes for reflecting the incident light to the transparent mounting substrate 6 from the rear surface 4c of the VCSEL 4 for light reception with the PD 5.
