PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for storing a long object facilitating storing work for the long object such as a cable. SOLUTION: The device for storing the long object includes a storage part 5 for storing the long object 3 fed in from an opening 51 in a winding condition, and a storage part retaining device 7 for rotatably retaining the storage part 5 with the opening 51 facing upward. The storage part retaining device 7 includes a rotor 10 rotating around a rotation center RC with the central line extending in a direction orthogonal to an installation surface 14 while having the storage part 5 placed thereon, a base member 9 supporting the rotor 10 rotatably, and a storage part retaining structure 13 arranged in the rotor 10 and retaining the storage part 5. The storage part retaining device 7 is structured so that the rotor 10 is rotated around the rotation center RC by a force applied to the long object 3 when the long object 3 is fed in through the opening 51.
