PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a continuous cast slab capable of manufacturing the cast slab with suppressed central segregation and central porosity even when cast slab temperature is raised by fluctuation of casting conditions. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the continuous cast slab continuously casts a cast slab while applying rolling reduction to the cast slab at the terminal stage of solidification. After secondary cooling of a normal cast slab is terminated, when rolling reduction is applied to a part having a solid phase ratio of 0.2-1.0 of a central part of cast slab thickness, the secondary cooling of the cast slab that is local cooling is further applied to the surface of the cast slab before and after start of rolling reduction, so that the surface temperature of the cast slab immediately before the start of the rolling reduction is controlled to 900-950°C. The local cooling is made to be the secondary cooling by air mist. Preferably, cooling water amount for entire local cooling is made to be≥30L/min and≤150L/min and air-to-water ratio that is a value obtained by dividing an air flow amount by the cooling water amount is made to be≥30 and≤100.
