The lamp has an oscillator (10) for generating high-frequency signals. Impedance transformers (13) are realized in a concentric and/or distributed in a circuitry. Electrodes (15) project into an ionization chamber filled with gas, metal vapor i.e. mercury, or halogen and surrounded with quartz glass. The electrodes are in contact with another chamber filled with gas, metal vapor, halogen and/or sulfur, where the lamp is ionized by the electrodes. The circuitry is symmetrically or asymmetrically designed. The high frequency signals are processed in the chambers in a high frequency mode.
