The hob (11) has a gas burner provided at a cooking surface (14), and a pot carrier device (20) placed at the cooking surface to hold a pot over the gas burner. A functional element is arranged in an interior part of the carrier device, and a cooking hob plate (12) is provided under the carrier device in a continuous and uninterruptible manner. The carrier device comprises three pot carrier parts (22a, 22b) that are fastened on the cooking hob plate, and a sensor is utilized as the functional element that performs pot detection and excess temperature detection or monitors flame of the burner. The carrier device is partly made of glass or ceramics.
