METHODS FOR DRIVING A PLASMA DISPLAY PANEL AND APPARATUS THEREOF

PURPOSE: A method for driving a plasma display panel and an apparatus thereof are provided to reduce power consumption by preventing unnecessary sustain voltage from being supplied for one frame. CONSTITUTION: A frame includes a plurality of subfields. An image signal is mapped to the sub-fields(S100). The sustain signal is assigned to a plurality of sub-fields. The number of the sustain signal is reduced based on the maximum gradation of image signal(S200). The maximum gradation of the image signal is adjusted to a first set value which is varied according to a modified value. The modified value is difference between a real gradation and the first set value.
