<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coordinate input device and its control method and a program for highly precisely detecting an instruction input by a plurality of instruction tools. <P>SOLUTION: A work region is set in a coordinate input region in an information processor for calculating the coordinates of an instructed position on a coordinate input region based on the change of light quantity distribution to be acquired from at least two sensor parts installed in the corner part of the coordinate input region for receiving incoming rays of light. While a first work region is set, when a second work region is newly set, the setting of the second work region is controlled based on the position information of the sensor part for the coordinate input region, the size of the coordinate input region and the region information of the first work region.
