<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new anti-gastric cancer agent that originates from natural product and can be used not only as a medicine but also as a beverage or food. <P>SOLUTION: The gastric cancer cell proliferation suppressing agent employs the fucoidan originating from Mozuku seaweed as an effective component. As a fucoidan originating from Mozuku, can be used a hot water extract of Mozuku seaweeds, for example, Ito mozudu (Nemacystus decipieus), Okinawa mozuku (Cladosiphon okamuranus) or Futo mozuku (Tinocladia crassa) or the like or a purified product thereof obtained by treating the extract with a quaternary ammonium salt.
