Producing a hydrocarbon cut having high octane index and low sulfur content from a hydrocarbon charge, comprises: hydrodesulfurizing the hydrocarbon charge, and at least one step of extracting aromatic compounds on all or part of the effluent obtained from hydrodesulfurization step, where the extraction produces a raffinate rich in paraffins with respect to the charge and an extract enriched in aromatics sent towards a gasoline pool.
