PURPOSE: A drawer drive system for a refrigerator and a driving control method thereof are provided to ensure safe use by immediately stopping a drawer when the drawer meets an obstacle while pulled out. CONSTITUTION: A drawer drive system for a refrigerator comprises a drawer(13) in which food is accepted, an input unit through which a drawer moving command is inputted, a drive motor(20) which provides power for moving the drawer, and a controller which determines whether to stop the drawer by detecting change in the rotating speed of the drive motor and controls the driving of the drive motor.
