发明名称 SYNTHESIZED TIN-ACTIVATED CARBON ADSORBENT AND ITS APPLICATION IN PRESSURE SWING ADSORTION FOR PURIFICATION OF HYDROGEN GAS
摘要 IN THIS INVENTION, ACTIVATED CARBON (AC)-SnO2 ADSORBENT WAS SYNTHESIZED AND USED IN A PRESSURE SWING ADSORPTION (PSA) SYSTEM. CONSEQUENTLY, 35nC12. 2H2O SALT AS A TIN ION PRECURSOR, WAS IMPREGNATED ONTO ACTIVATED CARBON TO IMPROVE ITS ADSORPTIVE INTERACTION WITH CARBON MONOXIDE (CO). FURTHER EXPLOITATION OF THE IMPREGNATED ACTIVATED CARBON IN PSA EXPERIMENTS SHOWED THAT ADSORPTION OF CO WAS HIGHER WITH THE IMPREGNATED CARBON THAN IN THE PURE CARBON. IT WAS SEEN THAT THE CONCENTRATION OF CO, WHICH WAS 1000 PPM, WAS SUCCESSFULLY REDUCED TO 40.2 PPM AND 10.4 PPM BY THE PURE AND THE IMPREGNATED ACTIVATED CARBON, RESPECTIVELY. THESE RESULTS IMPLY THAT TIN-ACTIVATED CARBON IN PSA SYSTEM CAN BE USED IN THE PURIFICATION OF HYDROGEN. SEVERAL IMPREGNATED SOLIDS ADSORBENTS FOR CO HAVE BEEN REPORTED, BUT THESE SOLID ADSORBENTS ARE SCARCE AND THUS EXPENSIVE COMPARE TO TIN (Sn), WHICH IS CHEAP, ABUNDANT AND AVAILABLE LOCALLY.
