<p>Circuits and methods of transmitting digital data to devices connected in series with transmitter or controller via powerline. Transmitting carrier is Pulse Width Modulated in response to the data immediately after the zero crossing point of the powerline waveform. Data format include preamble, synchronous and control command. Preamble signals are sent out to enable the receiver to track the powerline voltage variation which may cause pulse width detection uncertainty at the receiving end. The system uses a microcontroller to retrieve and reconstruct transmitted data. The design is particularly suitable for controlling home appliances such as gas discharge lights in a building. The system uses existing powerline networks to send control commands and receive acknowledgements for any electrical apparatus in the building. Fig.7</p> |
