PURPOSE: A manufacturing method of sulfone or a sulfoxide compound is provided to secure the excellent selectivity for the sulfone and the sulfoxide compound using a reaction of a sulfide compound and a hydrogen peroxide. CONSTITUTION: A manufacturing method of sulfone or a sulfoxide compound comprises a step of reacting a sulfide compound and hydrogen peroxide under the presence of a metal oxide catalyst. The metal oxide catalyst is obtained by reacting metals or metal oxides with the hydrogen peroxide. The metals or the metal oxides are selected from the group consisting of a tungsten metal, a molybdenum metal, a tungstous compound, and a molybdenum compound.
