PURPOSE: An opening delay unit for a water gate of a waterway is provided to easily open a water gate for repair or cleaning and delay the opening of a water gate in the even of heavy rain. CONSTITUTION: An opening delay unit for a water gate of a waterway comprises a drain hole(104), a water gate(110), a first magnetic element(120), and a second magnetic element(130). The drain hole is formed on a wall(W) of a waterway(102). The water gate is installed in the drain hole to be opened and closed according to the level of water in the waterway. The first magnetic element is installed in the water gate to gradually open and close the water gate. The second magnetic element is installed in the wall to correspond to the first magnetic element.
