COMPOSITIONS COMPRISING DOUBLE STRANDED RNA AND METHODS FOR INHIBITING EXPRESSION OF THE PCSK9 GENE

Disclosed is a double-stranded ribonucleic acid (dsRNA) for inhibiting the expression of a human proprotein convertase subtilisinlkexin type 9 (PCSK9) gene in a cell by targeting mRNA encoding PCSK9 from position 3530 to position 3548 of Accession No. NM_174936 (the sequence 5'UUCUAGACCUGUUUUGCUU-3') wherein the dsRNA comprises at least two sequences that are complementary to each other. Further disclosed are pharmaceutical compositions comprising said dsRNA that can be used for treating hypercholesterolemia, hypertriglyceridemia, hyperlipidemeia, heart disease or circulatory disease.
