The method involves transmitting a signal (4) from a portable terminal (2) i.e. cellular telephone, to a remote server (3) by a transmission unit, and receiving the signal at the level of the remote server by a reception unit. An emission zone (5) of the terminal is located to detect a position (6) of a medical equipment by a locating unit. A locating signal (7) of the position of the medical equipment is transmitted from the server to the terminal by another transmission unit. The position of the medical equipment is displayed through the terminal. An independent claim is also included for a device for locating a medical equipment i.e. defibrillator, comprising a terminal.
