PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a washing machine capable of making characteristics of a motor adaptable to the actual loads by more securely detecting the weight of the laundry. SOLUTION: When a drum motor is configured to include an alnico magnet with a coercive force at such a level as to easily change the quantity of polarization in a rotor, the quantity of polarization of the alnico magnet is set according to the quantity of dry fabrics detected before the first water feeding for the laundry loaded into a drum. When the weight of the laundry estimated from the weight of water-absorbed fabrics detected after the first water feeding is different from the weight of the dry fabrics (steps S13-S15), the quantity of polarization of the alnico magnet is changed according to the difference (steps S16-S19).
