PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To discharge a non-condensable gas in a head spray line via a vent line, while a nuclear reactor is operating, and feed cooling water to a reactor pressure vessel without fail, when the nuclear reactor is stopping, thereby preventing a water hammer phenomenon due to vapor condensation in the vent line. SOLUTION: In a reactor pressure vessel head spray system including the head spray line 3 feeding the cooling water to the reactor pressure vessel 1, when the nuclear reactor is stopping, a check valve 4 installed in the head spray line 3, the vent line 11 connected to the head spray line 3 and discharging the non-condensable gas; a vent line stop valve 12 installed in the vent line 11 and is opened, while the nuclear reactor is operating. There is included an interlocking mechanism for closing the vent line stop valve 12 in a certain time, after that the cooling water has been fed to the head spray line 3 is detected.
