<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information processing apparatus that quickly reproduces a function configuration equivalent to a failed device in the other apparatus as an auxiliary device when the device with a desired function fails. <P>SOLUTION: In the information processing apparatus, a plug-in server and a plug-in configuration management server managing a plug-in configuration of the information processing apparatus are connected via a network, and a software function can be added as a plug-in. The information processing apparatus includes: a function change means including an installation means; a storage means storing configuration information on plug-ins of the apparatus; a registration means registering the configuration information into the plug-in configuration management server; and a decision means acquiring configuration information of the other information processing apparatus from the plug-in configuration management server, comparing it with the configuration information of the apparatus, and deciding a difference between the plug-ins of the apparatus and plug-ins of the other information processing apparatus.
