PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for producing succinic acid, using a microorganism, increased in succinic acid production efficiency and decreased in production cost, by using a predetermined sucrose as the raw material saccharide. SOLUTION: The process for producing succinic acid comprises reacting a microorganism capable of producing succinic acid on sucrose, wherein the sucrose contains a predetermined amount of a substance (an impurity X) that can be detected by means of high performance liquid chromatography under predetermined conditions.
