PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for controlling integrity of a sheet of a packing material in a partial notch. SOLUTION: The partial notch 2 is formed through a first surface of the sheet 1 of the packing material, and reaches only a part of the thickness of the sheet 1 of the packing material, when being formed accurately. In the method and the device, a second surface of the sheet 1 of the packing material on the opposite side to the first surface is irradiated by a light emitting device 9, and an image of the first surface of the sheet 1 of the packing material is obtained by a television camera 10 at the partial notch 2, and the image is analyzed by a control unit 12 in order to determine integrity of the sheet 1 of the packing material in the partial notch.
