PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sidewall supplementary board material easily and even temporarily preventing overflow stream from an irrigation ditch: and to provide a sidewall supplementary device using the sidewall supplementary board material. SOLUTION: The sidewall supplementary device is structured as follows: the suspending board part 53 of a sidewall supplementary board material 5 is buried under the soil of a farm road 2 or a ridge 4 along the sidewall outer surface 33 of a U-shaped gutter 3; a horizontal board part 52 is placed on the upper end surface 31 of the U-shaped gutter 3; and a rising board part 51 is raised on the upper end surface 31 of the U-shaped gutter 3 to supplement the height of the sidewall 32 of the U-shaped gutter 3. A mounting member 6 which is formed into a hook-like shape and comprises a pressure part 61 abutting on the sidewall inner surface 34 of the U-shaped gutter 3 and a mounting part 62 passing through the rising board part 51 of the sidewall supplemental board material 5 to be tightly attached, is also used, and is nipped and pressed to the sidewall 32 of the U-shaped gutter 3 by the suspending board part 53 of the sidewall supplemental board material 5 and the pressure part 61 of the mounting member 6 to fix the mounting member 6 to the sidewall 32. A pile 7 is abutted on the suspending board part 53 buried into the ground and driven in so as to further solidly fix the sidewall supplementary board material 5 to the sidewall 32.
