PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve measurement reliability in a bacteriological examination device. SOLUTION: The bacteriological examination device includes: a vessel for storing liquid including a specimen; a bacterium detection element 9 disposed in the vessel; a measurement section 19 and a power supply section connected to the bacterium detection element 9; and a control section 21 for connecting the measurement section to the power supply section. The bacterium detection element 9 includes: a substrate 14; a conductive film 15 provided on the substrate 14; and counter electrodes 17, 18 formed on the conductive film 15 by providing a cut groove 16 by a laser. The control section 21 is set to be in a mode for applying power from the power supply section to the counter electrodes 17, 18 and includes an electrode smoothing mode and a measurement mode to be executed after the electrode smoothing mode.
