The invention relates to abrasive machining brittle materials by grinding and polishing. A method of abrasive machining brittle materials includes rotation of a workpiece of brittle material, rotation of an abrasive tool, forward movement of the workpiece relative to the tool, heating the workpiece and its machining by the abrasive tool. According to the invention, heating the workpiece is carried out to the temperature that is by 50- lower than the temperature of brittle-ductile transition of the material. The invention provides for most favourable treatment and thereby increases output of the process. |
